Welcome to the Language Arts Resources Wiki
Please use the Navigator to the right as your table of contents to projects designed to help you integrate technology in your Language Arts classroom.
Each of these projects and the resources contained within have been approved by the Katy ISD curriculum specialists. If you have questions, suggestions, corrections, etc., please feel free to contact the Technology Integration Specialists: Deb Smith, Linda McDonald, and Shelly Locke. We try to update projects frequently, and we take your suggestions seriously.
Overview of the projects:
3rd-8th Novels
These projects each have a home page which shows the novels that teachers have told us are taught at that grade level. Each one links to a page with both internet and teacher created resources to use along with instruction with that novel.
Everybody Books
This project is a collection of book lists, most of them picture books, that have been recommended for use in teaching a particular reading strategy, writing skill, or a particular genre or content area skill or topic. If there are also related internet resources for the books, links to those are included, as well.
Nonfiction Book Shelf
Here you will find online nonfiction websites which support research typicallly done in the 2nd-5th grades classrooms. Many of the websites included here are specifically aimed toward children.
Beyond Fiction
This is a collection of websites for nonfiction reading for the junior high level student.
Poetry Connections
This project provides several specific ideas for integrating poetry with novels. It is designed for the 3rd-5th grades.
Once Upon a Time
This project was designed to support Reading and Writing for the Kinder-2nd grade classrooms. Included are interactive websites that appeal to the younger student.
